I am currently enrolled at the University of Sheffield studying towards my master's degree in Biomedical Sciences (with a year in industry), a 5-year programme. I am excited to expand my knowledge in areas such as anatomy, microbiology and pharmacology.

After my degree, I am hoping to further my education and obtain my PhD.

At GCSE level, I achieved 9 A*s and an A; 6 grade 9s (high A*) including Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and 3 grade 8 (A*) including Further Mathematics. I studied at Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge and achieved A*AAA in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and EPQ respectively. This was possible due to the hard work and the constant excellence I strive to achieve.

As a tutor, lessons will be tailored to meet individual needs. Using my recent and first-hand experience of both the GCSE and A Level programmes, I will be able to support students to achieve their potential in a nurturing environment.

I am a tutor with more than five years experience tutoring and Lecturing English Language in the Cambridgeshire area.

Since graduating in English Language and English Language Teaching at University, I have worked with hundreds of students and have worked successfully to help them achieve their English GCSE goals.

I want to work with you to help your child enjoy the learning process, learn how to effectively set and achieve goals (beyond the classroom), to develop their learning approach and to reach their potential in English, so that they can move forward and focus on their next step.

My lessons are engaging, cover all of the assessment objectives, and are accessible (even for students who aren't the most avid readers).

Mathematics, Chemistry &

Physics

Hello, I’m Ollie! I’m currently on a gap year after completing the first term studying physics at the University of Bath. I decided to change my study path and am going to study Geophysics at Durham University in September 2024 and am excited at the prospect of learning about earth materials and venture more into geology.

At the end of my A-Level programme of studies, I achieved AAA in Maths, Chemistry and Physics. In addition, I achieved 10 GCSEs ranging from grade 7-9 including a grade 9 in mathematics and further mathematics and 8s in chemistry and physics. In addition to these academic achievements, I have had previous experience working with younger students in the past. To this end, I believe that I am the perfect candidate to support you/your child to achieve their goals and potential in order to further their educational aspirations.

I would take pride in helping my students not only excel, but to also develop an enjoyment of the subject at hand. I will tailor my teaching to my students needs as I understand that everybody learns differently. Recently being diagnosed with a learning difficulty myself has allowed me to understand how conventional teaching methods negatively affected me during my education, and that 1-1 teaching allows a much more personal and tailored experience for the student, allowing any student, no matter their needs, to achieve their greatest potential.

Notable achievements to date:

  • Gold Crest Award (completed In year 10 – normally taken in years 12 & 13) - for my scientific research paper on ‘The links between pore characteristics and tablet dissolution rate’.

  • Smallpeice Scholarship - In 2018 I won a scholarship place from the Smallpeice Trust for a residential 4-day nuclear marine engineering course.

  • Routes into Languages - in 2019, I was awarded, at Cambridge University, the Routes into Languages East UK Mother Tongue Other Tongue winner award and had my german poem, called ‘Das Buch’ published in ‘Routes into Languages Anthology of Poems 2019’.

I am a first year student studying Structural and Architectural Engineering at the University of Bath, where I plan to obtain my master's degree to become a chartered engineer. I want to help the construction industry become more sustainable by working on projects using regenerative methods.

Prior to university, I achieved A*AA in A-level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Chemistry respectively. In 2022 I attended the University of Bath to study Mathematics before deciding the change to Structural and Architectural Engineering. Despite this I have always and still do have a great passion and interest for Mathematics.

I have 4 years experience of tutoring Mathematics to students from age 6 to 16. During lessons I adapt my teaching methods to meet the student's needs as everyone learns different concepts in different ways. As someone who struggled in school due to undiagnosed learning difficulties, and had tutoring themselves, I understand how important tutoring can be and how much of a difference it can make to a child’s education and confidence. I love to see every child achieve and enjoy learning so I make my lessons fun and create a safe space for students to feel comfortable asking as many questions as they need.

I am a first year student at the University of Manchester studying Earth and Planetary sciences, where I plan to obtain a bachelor of science degree before moving onto a master's degree with my interests focused in planetary science and volcanology.

At secondary school I achieved 10 GCSEs grade 7-9 including a 9 in Further Mathematics, Biology, and Geography. Additionally, I have 4 A levels at grade A-B in Geography, Biology, Mathematics, and German.

I would take pride in tutoring my students to achieve their greatest potential and help them feel more confident in their studies. Furthermore, I have personally had many years of tutoring in the past to help with my A Levels and because of that, I understand the benefit of tutoring and how best to tailor lessons to suit a student's ability and needs.

Professional Testimonials

I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs Tai Aina both in her role as class teacher and maths tutor for four years. Mrs Aina has worked with Wheatfields year 5 and 6 pupils for two years providing high quality maths tuition. Her work had a very clear and positive impact on the standards that the year 6 cohort achieved in their end of year SATs in July 2022. Mrs Aina also taught one of our year 6 classes for the last 8 weeks of the summer term to cover teacher absence. The children made good progress thanks to Mrs Aina’s high expectations and ’can do‘ approach.

Mrs Aina is passionate about teaching and learning and is committed to identifying any possible barriers to learning as well as any gaps in learning for individual pupils in order to enable learners to have the best tools and strategies to make progress. Tai will work closely with colleagues to communicate progress in tuition sessions as well as plan effectively for the needs of the individuals in the tuition group.

Mrs Aina is skilled in moving learning on by analysing how a pupil approaches a task. She uses this information to provide support and challenge for pupils when applying their knowledge. Tai maintains a child-centred approach and takes time to build positive relationships with her pupils raising their self-confidence in their ability as she does so. Mrs Aina is a dedicated professional who will work tirelessly to benefit the pupils in her care.

Helping Your Child To Succeed

Helping Your Child To Succeed

  • Get involved with all aspects of your child's life at school.

  • Reading is an important life skill and an inability to read and comprehend information can impact all aspects of school and later, adult life. Help your child to cultivate a daily habit of at least 10-15 minutes of reading, including reading aloud to an adult.

  • Reading to, and with your child at any age, as often as possible is one of the best ways to positively impact their development in all subject areas.

  • Spend a few minutes to discuss the school day with your child, preferably not immediately after school when they are likely to be tired and might not want to talk.

  • With secondary-aged children, keep the lines of communication open as challenges with school work can suddenly appear.

  • Be child-like and enquire. Ask questions when you are not sure about something.

  • Stay in touch with your child's class teacher. Do not wait until things are desperately wrong before you approach them for help.
